After having done a couple a few "favorite Pokémon per X category" art prompts in the past, and separately having filled out one of those massive favorite-per-type/gen grid generators online, I thought it'd be a fun year-long project to use that as one big prompt for simple sketches. I'd never tried drawing a good number of these 'mons, especially from the last three generations (or indeed, even used a number of them in the games), so it was fun trying to come up with fitting poses or references for them.
These were all initially pencil sketches, which I colored under digitally (as well as touching up linework and adding the occasional missing feature, such as Kingdra's back fin – oops!)
I could see doing one-off grids for specialty mon types like Megas in the future especially given Z-A having expanded the pool, but for now I'm happy to put this project down.
