I've been making a lot of Lysandre-centric comics in the past two months (about 60+ pages now), so I thought I might share one that I made to fill the gap in canon: aka a better illustration of Lysandre's motives, thoughts and eventual spiral into despair and doom. And yes, I am making him wallow in the water of dead magikarp because his talk about beauty has never really been about aesthetics, and I wanted him to be willing to get dirty to save a poor magikarp. And yes, this is also a fun fill in to how he might have gotten his ace pokemon.

According to Pokédex entries Magikarp are incredibly resistant to pollution. Whatever they spilled must be absolutely horrible.

This is the kind of thing that makes his amazingly tragic(ish? Lacking vocabulary in English to day the correct term) OST actually feel earned, keep cooking
I LOVE this. I always felt team Flare’s (and Lysandre’s) motivations were the weakest of all the Pokemon teams, but this angle makes it feel much more real and relatable. I’ll def check out your other comics!

Oh no, I love him now. If he was written like that in canon, he’d be my favourite for sure.
I’ve always seen him as a tragic man who, no matter how much he tried to better the world, always saw more and more corruption and suffering and eventually became insane at seeing it all and not being able to even make a dent in it all. This comic really shows his start to darkness!
If only Game Freak was brave enough to make these stories.

Your headcanon for Lysandre is interesting. I love diving into characters’ headspaces, too, I think it’s fascinating to imagine what could have led a character to become the way he is. Your execution is absolutely amazing as well, I would absolutely read the rest of this comic.
