I kind of disagree that Rowlett would be elongated if it were designed for Gen 1. I also think most of his appeal is lost with the new shape
Round animal Pokemon like Jigglypuff and Venonat existed in gen 1, and Hoothoot in gen 2 (the first owl) is an early example of a circular owl.
Good art regardless! Litten especially looks better to me here
