It didn’t really drop “a day early.” The date just rolled over to Jan 15 in Australia / New Zealand (30min ago as of this comment). So it dropped world-wide at 12:00AM on January 15 in the earliest time zone.

I mean, unless they start interacting with the stuff on the island like in pocket camp I’m pretty good on this.
Probably just turn it on walk around for a moment and then turn it off

Hmmm, I was able to download the Switch 2 update, but when I launch it, it says I must wait until the release date?
Eastern timezone in the US.

Upgrade pack downloaded, icon changed to switch 2 edition then “You must wait until release date to play the upgrade pack”

Forgot about this. I havent played ACNH in a good while because it began to get a bit stale. But between the update and the switch 2 upgrades I am pretty excited for this.
Now I have to very carefully figure out how to transfer my Switch 1 island to my Switch 2 without losing anything as I already have all artwork, sea creatures, bugs, fossils, flowers, and fish.
I stayed up last night and before went to bed saw someone say ACNH had user maintenance at 2am PST. So I immediately knew the update would come at 6am PST. I remember with New Leaf, they dropped that large free update for it first thing in the morning as well. So, a few similarities between how both free updates were handled.

Thank god I went on to check for myself after seeing people in the comments say that it didn’t drop early lol. Only was able to play a bit so far but love the new hotel 🙏🏻

What is this Reset Service the article mentions?
EDIT: [It’s on the website](https://animalcrossing.nintendo.com/new-horizons/update-3-0/#reset-cleanup-center), it looks like it just lets Resetti vacuum up a plot of land or your entire island so that you can redecorate it.
