Flannery is still one of my favourite all time gym leaders, gives me super Yoko Littner vibes.

I think that's a long cloth that Japanese people use to dry their face when it's too hot. You can see it everywhere during the summer in Japan.
I always liked the theory that since it’s mentioned in the games her dad moved away, that her dad is the fire gym leader in galar and that he loved there to be stronger. There like no evidence to this but it’s a fun theory.
I think the new design is a little stronger but the old one in the old art style looks nicer to me.
It's definitely a towel – it has the classic hot bath symbol on it.
Hot Literally Hot
I love Flannery's concept. She isn't perfect because she's a beginning gym leader. She is flashy but she's not at her prime and is only trying to start her passion. So I like Flannery and I wished we see more gym leaders struggling with their gym yet still trying to show they care for their jobs.
I so wish she and Kabu were related. Her grandfather used to be the Gym Leader, Kabu is a fire Gym Leader from Hoenn, it seems perfect.
I cannot see the bell bottom jeans and crop top combo without thinking of Bloom from Winx club
Completely overlooking the young conventionally attractive skin showing character as being 'hot'. While the pun would not work in Japanese, Pokémon Company International was founded during the development of this game, creating a higher focus on English than before and English has certainly bled into Japanese media before.
Flannery's original design is pretty much just "Fire". Which is fine; her design works, I get the impression that her popularity is above average.
But personally, I prefer "Type + Something" gym leaders (and characters in general) over just "Type" ones. Like, Blaine is "Fire + Mad Scientist". A researcher who's playing with fire. I like that concept; it's not intuitive, but the design makes it work. I wish the design committed a bit more to making him look like he just walked away from an explosion that was slightly larger than he intended, but he does look like that happened.

Also her redesign, to me, recontextualises her hair to envoke a palm tree as well. In turn evoking a warm summers day at the beach next to her hot springs lore.
First time the remakes were preferred to the original. Honestly Remake Flannery deserves it. Subtle but nice
Game Freak's original concept for Flannery found in the teraleak said she was 25 years old, but she doesn't appear to be that old in the final game.
Also, she's one of the characters we have an implied last name for; her grandfather is called Mr. Moore in the dub, so assuming she has the same last name as him, her name is Flannery Moore.

But I kinda do not like her remake design. It just makes her legs look SOO thin.
