Oh, so it’s not just a technical decision to make all the foodstuff JPEGs? Interesting.
Still, I find it interesting how I never heard any uproar about the food in Smash and Kirby Air Ride(rs) while I heard people make a big deal out of the flat textured apples in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough.

haven’t even read the content yet but f me this is good web design. formatting, responsive, concise, small data size, only one javascript element that’s blocked by ublock and doesn’t break the usage. total html size barely over a 10th of a megabyte. oh my god.

As a chaser: the food items from the Sakurai developed Kirby Super Star.
They felt like the precursor to the variety of food items in Smash.
