My 6yo has been into watch Pokémon and started enjoying opening single packs. We have been having a lot of fun together with it. For Christmas, I went and fought the scalpers and found a couple ETBs. Gave her one for Christmas, and saved one for a rainy day.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when she pulled the golden Charizard in the first ETB. She was elated. She displays it in this case with a sleeve from the ETB(are these safe?)
Then it dawned on me, I remember hunting for my own charizard forever as a kid. It was such a fun hunt… now I was worried that most packs would be a let down, as these are incredibly rare to pull.
So today, we go to open the next ETB and I start to let her know how lucky she was, and that she can’t expect to get something like this every time. I tell her to try and appreciate the art / styles of all the other cards and find the things she likes. Then, on her 3rd pack in, she screams and says she can’t believe it. Shows me the other zard. I’m in shock.
What kind of dopamine hunter did I just create…
