Didn’t they announce it had sold like 3.5 million units in the us by the end of month one? Quite the drop off the following 5 months.

  4. Don’t let the Nintendo doomers see this.

I can’t remember a Nintendo console getting this much 3rd party support from the beginning. Maybe Super NES? There are some high quality ports that are coming over so the future looks bright.

The 4.4 million units is in addition to the OG Switch that people bought in 2025. Pretty impressive.

Someone should do a wellness check on the haters…this is bad news for their narrative

I’m holding out for an assumed special edition for the next major Zelda title.

The real highlight to me is the line about the Switch 2 outselling everything in December. Not sure if Circana has published the full numbers somewhere but if demand remains consistent before/after holidays, that is a really good sign for the long term health/sales and is way more meaningful than the usual holiday bump we would expect to see.

  10. Has the game situation improved then or is everyone just getting the new console to have it?

Yes. Yes. May this kill the damn doomerisms. I want peace

But some weirdo on YouTube said they were doomed

How did this sell so.much better than the switch 1 when it’s just a more powerful version?

Not going to pretend I have much profound to say about this, but I wish there was more insightful discussion in here and less circlejerking about strawman doomers who thought the console would fail massively, which no reasonable person actually thought would happen.

In any case, this is looking like a rock-solid launch and I think Nintendo handled everything as well as they reasonably could. The console itself is a massive improvement over its predecessor, both in terms of graphical performance and form factor. The launch window has had several high-profile releases, and the promise of top-tier third-party support is the best we’ve had in decades. But I think the main thing is that people just liked the Switch, and were already primed for more of it. I can’t think of a single Nintendo console that is just so universally beloved by so many people. Even the mighty DS and Wii earned themselves a questionable reputation among their owners for grandma games, gimmicky controls, and bad graphics compared to their competitors.

I think this is very much a PSX -> PS2 situation. The first console was popular and beloved, and once Sony proved themselves with the first one people were just all-in on the followup.

I dont understand the hype. If i buy any other handheld i can play mostly anything i want, use any operating system i want and even use it like a computer if i really wanted too. With a switch i can only play nintendo games, and i need to get a subscription to play old games.

    Surprising considering the pricing tbh

…. any games to come with it?

  18. AR_Harlock

Now if fable and forza would come… I mean they are going to PS too this round 😉

    “fast selling console”

.. of all the time ? .. of 2025 ? ..of all the december ?!?! CONTEST

Amazing how Nintendo turned it around, not that they were ever dying but they were falling behind Big Time to Xbox and PS. Once the original switch released, that all changed. THE KING IS BACK!

I kinda get why everyone was up in arms about the Switch 2 because of Nintendos horrible communication in…just about every way.

But they make great games, support their stuff for a long time, I’m glad to see it succeeding, worst case scenario is I experience it later though other means, the library is just very light and the hardware doesn’t seem worth it to me with a PS5.

If they release a “lite” version I’d 100% get one though when the library is inevitably bigger.
