Well shit thank you for letting me know

  2. CatsianNyandor

There goes the best era of Nintendo gaming in my life. Without these vouchers, I simply won’t spend as much money on games, and will rather buy used when the games are older. But ey. Was good while it lasted.

  3. G1Megatron

The cards with digital codes on them from stores?

  4. Futaba800

I got my S2 since June last year and I still have no idea what these vouchers are…

  5. NovemberXSun

Just bought one last voucher, and preordered Tomodachi Life. I still have one more game to choose from. I’m gonna hold on to it for a while, and see if another game comes out where I can use it. We’ll see. 👀

Hope they bring out Switch 2 vouchers eventually. My spending has already slowed down – didn’t get Kirby Air Riders or Hyrule Warriors yet, and not planning on getting Mario Tennis or Yoshi either. Whereas I was getting basically every first party Switch 1 game at launch with the vouchers. Going from effectively $50 per game to $70 per game is rough

I’ve never used them myself. They are £84, so £42 each, but switch 1 games tend to be around £38 physical at most retailers, so I buy those

  8. I’m not too worried. When one deal ends, another kind of deal will come sooner than later. TBH it was a bit of a weird, unecessarily complex system when they could just straight up discount games more regularly. Even if it’s just 10% discounts, they can balance it out to have the same kind of effect in the long run.

  9. Pulled the trigger and purchased both botw and totk

  10. Bought my pair this morning.

Looking forward to seeing what comes throughout the year, failing that I do still have 2 fallback games that have been wishlisted forever.

    Shame they are being discontinued.

The Canadian catalogue is genuinely so bad. I think I used mine on Xenoblade X, the fire emblem games and Pokemon ZA. Nothing else worth getting.

Do you all think is it worth it to get vouchers for Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Dread/Mario Party Jamboree?

  13. Eh. The game vouchers only made sense for one game, and that was “Tears of the Kingdom.” Effectively, talking that game down from $70 to $50.

The fact that you could use the game vouchers to purchase $50 games was ridiculous since that amounts to ZERO savings.

Anyways, this isn’t a big lose. The Nintendo 1st party game sales are a better deal as games drop to around $45. The best deals come from physical game discounts by retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc.

  14. Thinking of buying them for xenoblade x and tomadachi life

  15. MichaelMJTH

Do we know if they will keep adding future (original) Switch games to the compatible purchase list? I’ve been holding out hope that Rhythm Heaven gets added.

Warning: I’m bitching & moaning. Whiny wall of text incoming.

The removal of Vouchers is REALLY infuriating. Literally 90% of the games I bought was through those things, and the idea of me having to go from paying $50 per new release to $70 (A 40% increase?!) boils my blood.

The higher price inevitably makes my standards higher, and a lot of games that had big imperfections (Smash’s awful online, Animal Crossing’s multi-player, Splatoon 3’s lackluster update cycle) I was able to shrug off because of the mindset I had of “I only paid $50 for it, so it’s fair!”.

With a $70 price tag, even slight imperfections are enough to make me avoid buying a game. Age of imprisonment runs at 900p? No thanks. Donkey Kong Bananza is just more of Super Mario Odyssey? Why not go back to Odyssey? Kirby Air Riders is missing some fan favorite characters? I’ll stick to Star Allies then. Mario Kart World doesn’t have Miis? I’ll just continue to play MK8D instead.

I wish Nintendo would at LEAST offer more substantial discounts or something to help alleviate this, because I feel I’m getting ripped off whenever I consider buying a Switch 2 game.

  17. I just got nothing left I want to spend 90 bucks on. Most I can think of is Yoshi’s crafted world and NSMB U Deluxe and I can’t get around to getting them.

  18. Niijima-San

ah nintendo, the most consumer friendly of all the platforms for gamers! keep doing the thing that people do not want!

  19. JoseDY_24

Remember this last night and finally got Pokemon Arceus and Mario TTYD since i haven’t been able to find them used or a decent price.

Screw you Nintendo for making TTYD discounted only for retail last fall. Like why??

  20. ThaEternalLearner

I’m just waiting for the Galaxy games to go on sale this March.

  21. darthdiablo

Farewell, vouchers. The best use I got out of vouchers was purchasing $100 worth of eShop funds for $80 via Costco (usually $90, but sometimes $80).

And then using the vouchers to purchase $70 TOTK and $60 something else (don’t recall which).

Getting $130 worth of gaming for $80 (saving $50)

  22. TheGreatBenjie

Gotta thank costco for selling eshop cards at 20% off. Bought myself 4 vouchers and nabbed XCX, Echoes of Wisdom, Paper Mario TTYD, and Pokemon Z-A.

Now I just need to get a Switch 2 to fully enjoy them…

  23. joesploggs

Good riddance- bought them for Tears of The Kingdom but didn’t redeem the second one immediately. Didn’t realise they expired and missed it by about a week. Got no sympathy from Nintendo. Yes I should have been responsible for knowing this but I wasn’t aware that expiry dates on digital gift cards was even a thing.

Money in their pocket for zero services and goods provided!

  24. Boomshockalocka007

I always find it ironic people are crying and whining here about losing the ability the spend $100 on 2 games….yet those same people say they cant afford $70 for one game. Make it make sense. The math aint mathing. If you can afford $100 you can afford $70.

  25. Dear_Meeting_1258

    Switch 2 vouchers please.

    Or something as a replacement

  26. I got the Costco eshop gift cards ($89.99 for $100 in eshop funds) and snagged TotK and Three Houses!

  27. metalfacedemon

I bought one of these a long time ago and I don’t think I ever redeemed my second title, am I cooked?

  28. I am tempted, I have like half of the voucher eligible game already but I do sort of want to pick up one of the mainline Pokemon games and Echoes of Wisdom.

I don’t think I will have time to play either anytime soon though… Also really do wonder how Bayonetta 2 and Tokyo Mirage Sessions would run on my Switch 2 despite owning them on the Wii U.
