Meet Harimanok, the Firebird Pokémon. It is meant to be a legendary Pokémon.
Harimanok is based on the Sarimanok, a well-known figure in Philippine Mythology. The mythology is specifically by the Maranao people, an ethnic group in the Philippines.
The name is obviously derived from the Sarimanok. In addition to the Sarimanok, the name of the Harimanok could also be broken down into various word. The word "hari" means king in Tagalog, while "manok" means chicken. Another Tagalog word "bahaghari" means rainbow which appropriate for the colors.
I highly encourage people to further research on the mythology of the Sarimanok, and other Philippine mythologies.
