Prime 4 sells a out as much as the Metroid franchise usually does.

At 11, some grifters telling you why this means the Switch 2 is a failure somehow.

Nintendo should tweak their reporting slightly for fringe cases like this. “Notable combined software sales over 1 million” or something like that

  3. That’s better of course but I’m sure it’s still less than they were hoping for.

For a game that was so hyped, that seems fairly low (consistent with the franchise or not). It also seems, despite years of buildup and anticipation, it kind of faded away almost immediately? I think other than this and the announcements of Metroid Prime 4 icons on NSO, I haven’t heard anything substantial about the game since like a few days after it came out?

I understand that’s the nature of most single-player games, even ones that were hyped to high heaven. But I don’t think it usually happens THAT fast. I don’t think anyone was expecting Silksong here, but it still seems like a big disappointment from several angles.

Despite the setbacks and strange marketing I really hope that this can be used as a proper template for Prime 5.

Metroid doesnt need to be open world and now we know why. Give us life in the lush environments like in Fury Green or Volt Forge. Give players a reason to scan and sense of discovery.

The 2 versions passing a million copies combined was expected, wasn’t it? It’s still a flop though.

I guess that means prime Is safe but I hope they take the feedback from the community

The open world was half baked despite plenty of examples of how to do these things well. Maybe stick to the usual metroidvania formula.

The NPCs need to be interesting at least if they will be prominent

Problem facing the prime series is, ANYTHING you do differently than prime 1 is considered “not metoid” basically. Same issue with the halo franchise. Anything new or different and it’s “not halo”. So it seems like best case scenario is that they keep making prime one over and over again, but that’s not really sustainable creatively. I think at this point they need to introduce a new protagonist to the Metroid series where fans would be more lenient to experimental gameplay that may not be as associated with the series.

If only they had multiplayer smh

Metroid Prime 4 needed a review scores over 90 for it to even have a chance of selling over 3 million which no Metroid has done ever

Even if it went against their metrics on when to report sales updates, they definitely should have just reported this anyway. Especially given how volatile the Metroid fanbase can get.

This was being said by people that it’s not on the list due to the weird way Nintendo counts the versions but it was copium they said.

I would expect it to have had good sales, it was a highly anticipated game, and given it’s a slightly niche franchise I think most people who already wanted to buy it wouldn’t be put off by word of mouth or reviews. The fact that it’s not a very well designed game that’s remarkably unfinished and unpolished for something that was notionally in development for 8 years will likely have more of an impact on the sales of the next metroid game.

Feels like Shenmue 3 in a way. People wanted it so badly for so long, and then when it finally arrived, it was like, eh.

  16. I wanted to purchase the game but I’m far more critical on what games I buy these days due to the 70 dollar price tag. Game just didn’t seem right for me personally
