when i was a kid i was sure gary was going to win the entire thing but then he lost to Mellissa in the 4th round of the indigo League
im not salty that he lost, it was just that it happened so early, even ash beat him and it completely crushed his ego leading to his retirement after he lost to ash in jhoto
i mean he lost to ash twice in a row in both Leagues so i would be salty too
i am not saying Gary should have won the indigo League (tbh that would be the best and make the Jhoto showdown way better) but im just saying Ash should have been knocked out before him and they wouldnt fight because ash got knocked out
he couldve lost to Mellissa but it shouldve happened way later in the Indigo League
this would have made the Jhoto League so much more meaningful as I of people saw this as Ash is better than Gary which we know but we YES WE thought that Gary was better than ash until this point
and yes before you say it im a certified Gary supporter alright
