Here's the thing with Mega Heatran: As a fire type attacker, the types it hits for super effective damage (Grass, Ice, Steel and Bug), It Double resists these types, So it's going to stay on the field for AGES, As it will probaply have a VERY High TDO.
Gonna say all megas are worth maxing out in PoGo for the candy bonuses, especially when they have multiple typings for events that have different typings you want to farm up. The more combos available you have the better, and multiple maxed Megas too, so it’s cheap/free to keep swapping
But tbh, I am more concerned about these new game currencies than the megas themselves. Hope they won’t actually be necessary for mega raids. Really bogs down the game and prevents even more people from being able to play in a whim. Terrible idea to add more, so I hope they aren’t actually doing it.

Something you didnt mentioned that I've heard from other poke go tubers is that Zygarde like the weather trio are so strong that they need to be nerfed as not to break the game

Mega Heatran would be useful in steel type raids as it'll give extra candies, same for mega excadrill against steel types
And I am calling it, they wont let us elite tm signature moves on zygards, even though people would raid it like crazy anyway

I got a shundo lucario in Japan during lucario raids
Heatran has the best use of being a Fire/Steel. Giving additional candies for the shared Steel Type Pokemon caught… Darkrai really lacks, single type. It's worse than Froslass.
Excadrill is useful for max battles too so worth powering one up
Mega Absol Z is awesome, my shundo absol will finally be better!

Every mega pokemon is good in pogo no mega stones, all count toward mega medals and every one of them increases catch candy without needing to use the pokemon to battle with to get that bonus the weaker megas help a lot because i save my stronger megas with the free cooldown ready for when i need them but i still want the catch candy bonus from megas not good for battle.
You can walk them as your buddy for energy once you mega them one time which is the main reason once people have the energy they don't raid mega pokemon again.
Something that should be kept noted about mega's is candy bonus. So, as heatran isn't number 1 or 2, he would still be giving a candy bonus to steel types while doing super effective damage.

Mega Meganium will be number 1# better than sceptile because of vine whip.
Apart from these new megas, what we’re missing in the game in are the paradox pokemon, miraidon, koraidon, ultra necrozma, calyrex, Glastrier and specter, shadow rider and ice rider, the dlc legendaries from the teal mask and the indigo disk okidogi fezandipiti and monkidori and Ogerpon and it’s 4 forms, terapagos, raging bolt, gouging fire and walking wake, pecharunt and many some gen 9 evolutions and perhaps something else I missed, so there’s still quite a few thing for them to add to the game
Whats the point of these new megas if current megas are still better😂 just another way pokemon go is going to get watered down
