One of the most priceless cards in my collection is finally being sent off to get slabbed.
This is a Mewtwo Black Star Promo, signed by its illustrator, Christopher Rush, who sadly passed away in 2016.
Pokémon is historically known for commissioning artwork almost exclusively from Japanese artists. Christopher Rush is a legendary figure in the trading card world, most famously the illustrator of Black Lotus from Magic: The Gathering. He was the first, and remains one of the very few, non-Japanese artists ever allowed to illustrate a Pokémon card.
This Mewtwo is the only Pokémon card Rush ever illustrated, making it truly one of a kind. Signed examples are exceptionally rare, with only a handful known to exist online.
