You really shouldn’t review yakuza games when you dislike the side content that much. Thats like a good chunk of the experience. If you just care about the main narrative, the series will feel lacking for you. The recasting point i agree with however.

I wish they would take a break but no they have to make a new one of these fucks every ten minutes for the rest of time. It’s frankly obnoxious and makes these titles feel like Nickelodeon shovelware from the 2000s.

Low(er) scores of major multiplat releases on Switch 2 inevitably leads people into assuming a bad port, but this is not the case per the review
>Overall performance on Switch 2 is also as solid as you’d hope. The bump up to the Dragon Engine means we’re looking at 30fps, but it remains pretty stable throughout. Resolution can also look a touch fuzzy in handheld mode, as you’ll no doubt see in the accompanying screenshots here, but its overall a really handsome-looking game.
Just putting it out there. This is just the case of the reviewer not liking the game

Let’s call this what it is…a smear campaign because of a casting decision. Whether you want to buy the game or not is up to you, and I fully support that. But the content should be reviewed without this bias.

I got the vibes when looking at Kiwami 3 prior to launch that it wasn’t RGG’s top priority. Feels like something that was being made by their C team while their A and B teams are working on Stranger Than Heaven and Virtua Fighter 6. Hopefully those games turn out better.

y’all should i just buy the original 3rd game before it’s taken off the digital store

It’s definitely time. Really need to move on from this series and start pushing their latest project more heavily.

Honestly I did not enjoy this review, their biggest complaints bar the recasting was the fact that there’s alot to do and there’s alot of cutscenes within the game, I mean come on guys its a Yakuza game they are very heavily story focused games with alot of cutscenes and all the side content is freaking wonderful, I skipped most of the side stuff in Yakuza 3 remastered because I got so frustrated with how clunky the game was and the near constant enemies blocking all attacks especially coming off the back of 0 and Kiwami 1 & 2, I will definitely be getting Kiwami 3 but most likely for PC as I played the demo and I thought it felt great to play, im looking forward to re experiencing the great story aswell as actually immerse myself into everything extra the game has.

It’s interesting that they included a second option in the review, one that seems to be more positive. In my opinion pacing is generally poor in the original 3 all the way through 6 so that’s something that I was expecting. It does seem like it’s just more Yakuza, and for now that works for me. I’m also someone that didn’t play the games as they were coming out and found going from Kiwami 2 to the remastered 3 to be quite a step back.

Stop remaking shit and just focus on Yakuza 9
Maybe do Yakuza 0 Kiwami just don’t keep fucking up the story

Who cares if its 30 or 60 fps, as long as its locked and doesn’t fluctuate

I’m not entirely shocked to see this get poorly reviewed. 3 is by far the weakest entry in the series on everything outside of the actual main narrative.
The side stuff in particular. Every Yakuza game usually has 1 or 2 big side quests with depths/mechanics of their own that hook you (pocket racer/cabaret, the real estate minigame and dondoko island in the RPGs) but 3’s one (Hostess Maker) is such a step down in that regard it feels half thought out. It appears the new stuff they added here wasn’t enough to change course on that.
I’ll probably still pick it up at some point but still disappointing.

there’s a demo on the eShop for this one in case folks don’t know. it runs solid, but man, the resolution dips *hard* when you’re fighting, I’m talkin YouTube video buffered at 360p. That was my experience in handheld at least.

Honest take: Yakuza 3 was one of my least fave entries when I played through the series a few years ago. Yakuza 0, Kiwami 1, and Like a Dragon (Yakuza 7) were my favorites. This doesn’t surprise me at all.

3 was never a very strong entry in the franchise and this was probably made by a smaller team that isn’t working on yakuza 9. There is also a lot of drama surrounding the game right now in regards to the VA that has soured a lot of people too. Maybe it was doomed from the start to be mediocre

3 is the worst game in the series, no wonder they didn’t care as much.
