So I normally would've posted last week, but waited one more week cause these guys have a background that is very fitting for the day of love. Also not one who has ever really celebrated Valentines before either, but these guys just felt right to save to post for Valentines. But I'll go ahead and explain now why these guys are so fitting for the day of love
THEIR LORE: So their main concept is based off of Orpheus (Eurydice top but mainly Orpheus). The origin of their name is from the ancient Greek words desmos (means binding) and melos (song/melody). And just like Orpheus from Greek mythology, these creatures produce otherworldly music that is capable of charming other creatures, trees, or even gods. Desmelos don't actually sing themselves, but instead the little orb that rests in the back of their shells is what makes what sounds like ethereal singing. The string-like tendrils on the sides of their shells also act as a lyre that Desmelos can play along with their "singing" So far I've explained the Orpheus/musical side to these guys, but here's where the whole "fits the Valentines day theme" comes in. So part of their name as I already said comes from "binding". The orbs that Desmelos have aren't fully circular orbs, but orbs that are missing a half of them. These orbs are also able to float out of their shells when they produce their music. But whenever a Desmelos comes across another Desmelos, they make music together and see if their orbs match one another's. If a Desmelos finds another Desmelos whose orbs fits the other half of their orb, they become near inseparable and are bonded for life. But, whenever two Desmelos do find their other half, whenever one of them passes away, the other enters a deep state of grief and becomes extremely depressed. Their songs are more like laments now, and their music sounds haunting but yet still beautiful. It is possible for someone to bring a grieving Desmelos out of their state of grief, but is quite the challenge
There, hopefully all that explains them well enough lol. Credit for the artwork goes to @poketrainervb on Instagram. If there's anything else I can explain about these guys even further then feel free to ask. But with that, thank you for checking these guys out, I hope everyone likes them, and a happy Valentines day to those who celebrate it

Freaky harp-clams, awesome!!!! They remind me of The Birth of Venus!
I love these, they remind me of the tapu without looking like they have to be a part of them. Like their distant species that branched off the same mew ancestors a long time ago ❤️ the colour are very well chosen and really make the design pop.
thought it was supposed to be a tapu at first
I would catch a male one and name him spazmatism
