Arthropod Pokémon are some of the most widespread and fascinating groups of Pokémon, their anatomy and peculiar characteristics have fascinated scientists and enthusiasts alike.
This large group includes enigmatic species such as Crustle (Dwebbum stonehomis) once considered part of the Crustacean Pokémon group but recently reclassified as a close relative of Parasect (Parasum mushroomii), as well as the Spider Pokémon group and the Myriapod Pokémon group, and the Scorpion Pokémon group (including only one currently known species, Drapion (Skorupus ogrescorpius)).
Recently, a new extinct species was discovered, which helped cement the relationship between many of the previously mentioned groups. Genesect (Euryus paleozoicus) is a large species of Arthropod Pokémon considered closely related to Spider Pokémon, Myriapod Pokémon, Crustacean Pokémon, Scorpion Pokémon and Paracrustacean Pokémon. Much like the closely related Kabutops (Kabutus shellfishium), this species was perfectly adapted to live in both water and on land, using their long claws to hunt.
