Lotzo and the Ray of Light is a Spyro-inspired 3D platformer that released on the eshop the other day. It is a scam.
It is an almost 1-to-1 copy of a free demo for the game ‘Zera Myths Awaken’. They seemingly copied the source code, changed the colour of the protagonist, and are now charging £15 for it. It might be the most blatant theft I have ever seen on the eshop.
If the game looks interesting to you at all, check out Zera instead. The game is on indefinite hiatus, but a free demo is available on itch and it contains the same content as Lotzo.
There is no reason to buy Lotzo and the Ray of Light.

That’s weird, [this obviously human-written and normal review ](https://gamecritix.co.uk/lotzo-and-the-ray-of-light-review/)says it’s great.
Well well well it’s super mario 2 all over again
The cover looks like AI either way, I probably wouldn’t have bought it, but good to know that the shit iceberg goes deeper.
Ever since Putin eased on the copyright laws in Russia, eShop is filled with scam games. AI slop and other stuff, they all originate from Russia. Some don’t even hide, you’ll see full Russian names as developers for some games.
Who’s to blame? Rating boards. It’s currently way too easy to rate games, you can even get a jpeg image rated as a game. This situation needs to be addressed.
I mean just look at the cover. Typical AI slop.
It looks AI as hell, tbh. There’s a whole bunch of these sorts of knock offs popping up, unfortunately.
The cover looks like crap, it makes sense.
Looked through screenshots and it’s crazy how blatant it is, very scummy to take someone’s dream project from itch and trying to make money off it. Hope Nintendo will be notified.
The eshop is full of slop/AI/stolen assets. Are you going to make a post for every one?
Why am I getting [Wabuu](https://youtu.be/3FCOcowMsPs) vibes off that first cover?
Get used to it. The cats been out of the bag for a minute now.
Damn, glad I didn’t pull the trigger, the gameplay video I saw on YouTube looked like a cool Spyro clone but I thought it was fishy
Man… I’m glad Nintendo doesn’t have the same draconian rules and regulations that it did back in the NES days but I wish there was SOME form of regulating what is available on the e-shop. The AI and hentai shit was bad enough but outright stolen games is inexcusable, they should be mortified that this made it onto the e-shop.
I remember following the devs for this because I love 3D platformers. Sucks to see something like this happen to a project I’ve actually been following.
Also the thumbnail for Lotzo looks ai generated.
Thanks for the warning
I mean the AI image wasn’t a good indicator to you? That stupid eyes looking nowhere from the cat weird wannabe dragon thing, the piss hue, the weird asymmetrical wings, the weird house on the background and the castle that make no sense? The second pic looks way better than that horrible ai slop thing
Even the name title « lotzo » has the « o » in different size, unbelievable how low effort they (didn’t) made this
The real problem is Nintendo accepting all those ai slop in the Eshop. It’s extremely annoying when you try to find good quality games to see all those trash polluting the eshop. They are EVERYWHERE.
I dream of people making a big buzz through social medias about it so Nintendo is forced to change and punish those so called « game developers » without any talent.
This is a bummer. Ive been waiting for zera to come to switch because of it’s Spyro likeness.
Stuff liked this is why Digital store are so trash today.
I just don’t understand why they don’t ban generative AI in eshop games. That would filter out 95% of the slop immediately.
To make it worse – he is working on like 8 projects over the last 2 years as a SOLO DEV which seems insane, including a unity port of Banjo Kazooie tht looks jank, a remaster of Mystical Ninj starringn Goekon that looks OK and a Castlevania 64 recomp that is mostly AI… And includes Emulator Plugins… And doesnt need the rom so is 100% piracy.
This guy is an AI bro.
Looks like spyro aliexpress version?
Mom I want Spyro!
No! We have Spyro at home.
