As Angry Bird-coded Browt’s design is, his brows made me pause quite a bit because it looked familiar to me. When I looked at some Baht that I haven’t gotten around to exchanging at the airport during my last trip to Thailand, I noticed the national seal of the Thai Government has a stylized deity on them – and this deity is Garuda.
Now, because a really big chunk of the community is pointing out that the new region is based on Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia (and especially Bali) due to the architecture of the buildings and temples, I kinda became convinced that Browt might end up having a Garuda-inspired design. This is because Garuda, like in Thailand, is also the national emblem of Indonesia. In addition, the name of the Indonesian flag-carrier is Garuda Indonesia – and this airline flies direct flights from Bali (DPS) to Narita (NRT) with a Pokémon-themed Airbus A330-300 based there. (Look this plane up with the registration PK-GPY on flightradar.)
In the Hindu tradition, Garuda is the mount of the god Vishnu, who was in search of the elixir of life. With this mystical cultural element in mind and the fact there’s a lot of rituals in Balinese Hinduism, I guess Browt mind end up as Grass/Psychic? His brow feels like it may eventually have psychic powers.
(I have my fingers crossed for Geqcua line to be Water/Poison because I’m a water-starter type trainer, plus not basing a Pokémon on the Komodo Dragon would be such a miss.)
