Me; Ok if I can memorize hundreds of pokemon, I should be able to memorize Kanji.  Brain!  Why arent we memorizing the Kanji?!

    Brain: Electrode, Diglett, Nidoran, Mankey

After Gold and silver, the first 251 Pokémon, they should have focused on improving gameplay experience only. At most, not more than 5 new Pokémon each gen. There are over 1000 now

To be fair most Pokémon look way more different from each other than most kanji

  4. PulseWitch

To be fair they have surpassed letters in the Latin alphabet in gen one

Is that what Pokemon were originally meant for? Helping japanese kids learn kanji?

  6. tendeuchen

It takes Japanes kids 12 years of school to learn all the Kanji, but to learn all the Pokemon only takes one afternoon.

Me: knows every pokemon from most generations

Also me: what did i eat for dinner last night?

千, the Japanese word for 1 thousand, is learned at grade 1 actually. The current number of Pokemon is 1025, which would be 一千ニ十五.

Also, Pokemon names are localized so if you were to compete with a Japanese person you’d get 0 points regardless.

Hmmm, maybe it’s enough and they should stop.

The number of Pokémon has also officially passed the number of letters in the alphabet that I learned in preschool.

I have section of my brain purely dedicated to remember Gen 1-4 Pokemon.

  13. Larielia

I only remember some of the water or flying Pokemon of the generations I’ve played.

They just need to make a Pokerap about kanji and then everyone would learn them

  15. Yeah, but Pokemon are cute, and I still forget their names sometimes.
