Was looking at the trainer artwork for Pokémon Winds and Waves and noticed something small — all four characters have the same board strapped to their backpacks.
That made me wonder if it’s actually part of a traversal system instead of just decoration. Game Freak usually repeats gear like that when it ends up being a gameplay feature.
With the games being called Winds and Waves, a board that works with wind currents or water travel would make a lot of sense.
It kind of reminds me of how movement evolved in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet where exploration became more integrated into the world.
Either way it feels like a detail that might actually mean something.
