I’ve wanted to make this since Gouging Fire was first introduced – Entei was always one of my favorite Pokémon when I was younger and I absolutely love its Paradox form!
The idea came to me when I was playing with it in Scarlet and thought that the design elements would translate well to a cosplay. I pictured Gouging Fire’s humanoid form as a sort of ancient, fae-like being because I really love fantasy costume design. My background is actually in historical costuming, but I found that it didn’t give me the creative flexibility I wanted so I’ve been experimenting with more fantasy-related stuff lately.
I made every element from scratch except for the shoes and the wig, but I did end up decorating the shoes quite a bit. The headdress and wig are made from Worbla and I weathered the gown I sewed to make it look old and somewhat burnt because I pictured this character as a supernatural being that can wield fire (and in the process, charred parts of her own attire).
Anyway, this is the first Pokémon/fantasy cosplay of 3-4 that I plan to do this year! It’s also the first time I’m sharing my work publicly so I don’t have an IG up and running yet, but the handle will be the same as my Reddit name.
