Yeah, i’m just not gonna belive that
dark__tyranitar
That’s okay we already proved it.
luckyd1998
we don’t need them to confirm lol

“Approached by IGN for comment on the changes, a spokesperson for Niantic said it did not discuss exact shiny odds as a matter of standard policy…”
But they always say when shiny odds are increased for events, so they discuss changes to shiny odds. They could have answered that question without giving the exact odds.
Lightning1999
Seriously? Are they aware that we have the means to prove otherwise lol
Omnizoom
Well IGN covering will surely get the fire under them to fix it
Andr3wJ411
My last non community day shiny was two months ago. My wife had 15 in the last two weeks.
JazzySugarcakes88
The Scopely effect begins
Murky_Try6188
with some of these changes some normal mons shiny which spawn less may become rarer than shiny legends
Merlion4ek
Pokémon Go Developer: trust me bro.

Way to kill the game
Some_Entertainer6928
We already know and it’ll ruin the game :/

I just encountered a shiny Galar bird yesterday it would shock me if it was at full odds.
Pinarobread2Point0
Considering I bought the deluxe pass for the 30th anniversary event, and didn’t get a single shiny from it, I’d say it’s confirmed (or they hate me)
Aether13
Good, less of a reason to play this game lmao
Nervous-Peppers
Declining to comment is confirmation
WarTurbulent4606
Caught at least 500 pokemon today and only got 1 shiny
Efreet0
Pretty funny reading articles made by reading threads from here..

We’ll have to wait until the 30th anniversary event is over to see if the wild shiny rate changes are permanent for the season, or whether it was meant to [temporarily] override the 1/20 legendary shiny rate for the incense spawns that are tied to the event.
On a tangent, does anyone know whether there is data suggesting the tier-5 shiny rate has also been lowered during the event?

Getting my popcorn out to watch Scopely/Niantic incorporate all shiny boosts into the paid passes.
For us peasants, the boost will only activate after grinding all week/on an unlimited points day, and only enjoyable for the last day or two of the weekly event.
I’m just going to keep my expectations low and go fully f2p from here forward. You can too 😉

I don’t think this is a winning argument for the playerbase so long as people get shinies of something, whether it’s their 1st or 87th encounter. The devs can just always say it’s not a guarantee and wash their hands of any wrongdoing.
*Nobody from our group of 35 got a shiny after 12 max battles*. Meanwhile, on Twitch, Twitter, and this sub, people got them on their 3rd, 4th, 11th, and 18th attempt.

It’s beyond me how they still aren’t forced to disclose odds in 2026… or how they thought it would be a good idea to either do it or try to hide it.
maniacal_monk
Their lack of answer is all the answer we need, really. The general trend of changes has been pretty negative lately, so anything other than “no, we have not permanently changed shiny chances” needs to be treated as they have permanently nerfed them.
Maleficent_Sound_919
So raids are done for?

What hidden nerf?
beingRealFrank
The season is about Memories. Maybe they’re trying to help us remember a time before shinies existed.
Oer1
Yeah I will hardly be tapping Pokemon anymore
SonGouki
Honestly, I always seem to have reduced shiny encounters during events, which is pretty much all the time now. Before the introduction of Seasons, I used to get frequent wild shinies, now it’s usually just a trickle.
Grimey_Rick
they dont need to confirm – there are websites that I probably cant mention here that prove it. should have known the new changes to shinies was too good to be true.
is there information on how raid and egg shiny rates changed?
Aetheldrake
Probably would have been better for them NOT to be vague. Being vague just sounds like denial with extra steps
Salamantic
I have objective technically proven numbers to prove this developer has just lied in everyone’s face
TopTurtleWorld
Stop giving them money.
Alpha1v1
They lowered the rates and when you buy that pass that says boosted shiny rate It would be actually be normal rate
Many_Seaworthiness22
Oh wow. I’ve decreased my playing time by a LOT lately simply due to life & nothing spectacular to catch
Shinies are my favorite. I have most of the ones I want. Why would I play more if the shiny odds decreased?
yourmomwoo
They don’t have to confirm it. Like when the owner had a Washington Post journalist killed and dismembered for writing a negative piece about the Saudi monarchy. We all know what really happened.
CompositeWhoHorrible
And another finger of the Monkey’s Paw curls…
Firestorm2934
I didn’t notice that my already horrible RNG for shiny pokemon was even worst this event than it usually was and got 2 whole shiny’s after playing for multiple hours a day every day and doing routes and using incense for the event
-wearetheworld-
dont believe anything until it is officially denied
Over_Ad1461
Literally the best thing about this game is the shiny rate. Past that its a meh pokemon game.
Cometstarlight
Wait, so are they increasing raid shinies while decreasing wild shiny odds?

The lack of transparency with this app is wild.
