Surprise hit and pokemon don’t belong in the same sentence. Also, expected cause those Dragon Quest Builders games are incredible and addicting. And Pokopia is basically a streamlined DQ2 with no combat and it’s still incredible.

After falling like 20% from the prior months.
Stocks are meaningless to track how well 1 game is doing
It’s much less impressive when you actually look at the chart

I mean, is this because of pokopia? or more likely is this because they’re going to try to get tariff money back? a 10% share increase is not a small amount, even a popular game like pokopia probably wouldn’t do that at least on its own.

Somehow, Nintendo has the best of luck with their big cozy games launching at the exact time the world needs them

I should’ve invested in Nintendo during the Wii U era, curse me for being 12.

Goddamn it. I don’t need ANOTHER game to make my backlog even longer but the hype and news about this game is making it hard to resist.

I think the “surprise” part is that this could be the legit system seller the Switch 2 has largely been missing. Anecdotally, I know a good amount of people that are finally looking to upgrade to the new system because of this game.

I glad the game is doing so well. I like it quite a lot so far and hope we get a sequel or something similar in the future

Nintendo seems to have a track record of releasing first and third party games that uplift the spirit and soothe the soul in March during years when the people don’t realize they need the joy beamed back into their life.
Case in point: New Horizons and Doom Eternal sharing a release week when the lockdowns hit here in America. We were spoilt for choice. Make our own island with cute friends in the daytime, then wade bravely through the endless forces of Hell in the evening. We had fan art with Isabelle wielding the BFG by the end of that week.

Ditto is definitely gonna be the next pokemon character in smash.

I waited for reviews to drop before pre-ordering at GameStop mere days before release and, man, it’s a good thing I did. The game has been constantly sold out everywhere. Hell, when I picked up the game the clerk said they had sold out of regular copies within the first hour of opening. He also mentioned that Tomodachi Life was seeing similar numbers for pre-orders coming in and expects that to also be difficult to get without one.

This is how I’m learning there’s a new Pokémon game

Hopefully shit shows them they could make better Pokémon games without GameFreak at the helm.
