Started thinking a bit about what the next gimmick might actually be. What would even fit this region.
A lot of people seem to jump straight to fusion lately. Two Pokémon combining or something like that. Which to me feels more like a bit of a cop out than a real direction.
Kind of like checking under the truck while it’s already running you over because you still think there’s a Mew under it.
But with the whole winds, waves, islands and storms theme… I keep looking at the environment instead.
Previous gimmicks were usually pretty tied to the region they came from. Megas with Kalos and its lore.
Terastal honestly felt more like making Pokémon glittery and giving them a fancy hat than a real form change. Maybe it was a slight wink to samba and their hats, but that’s more of an American Latin thing than European.
So with Winds and Waves I keep wondering if the battlefield itself might change somehow. Wind direction, currents, storms… maybe fights even play differently depending on where you are.
Maybe they’re not even leaning into a traditional gimmick this time. It could be more of a new battle mechanic instead.
Not even saying that’s what it is. Just feels like it would fit the theme more than fusion would. Maybe I’m just asking too many questions, but that’s also half the fun of being in the Pokémon community.
Everyone already seems to be talking about Pokopia while I’m still stuck on the cloud observation.
At this point I might just be the old man yelling at a cloud.
So what do you guys actually think the gimmick will be?
