Beginner’s/Dad’s luck?

So I stopped at DG and they had knockout boxes for $10 each. I bought one Kyogre and one Suicune. My dad was asking about them so I was like let's open them, choose a box. He chose suicune. I opened my kyogre box and got absolutely nothing. He opened his box and first he got Jasmine, then he pulled the growlithe! I explained to him the value of the cards and he thought it was nice. I offered to start a binder for him, which he declined. He said he'd rather I kept them and I could give him some pretty girl cards (what he calls the OP cards) so he could show them to his buddies.
