No, it would a actually be weird if anyone did
Easily (to your question in post no sleep lost, not the anxiety in title). Games are a hobby. Save up til you can afford them. Always pay for essentials first.
Seems rediculous to “get anxiety” over what is just entertainment in the end.
Personally, no. I do keep up on getting the games I want at or around release normally, however if I couldn’t I would be fine as I have a very big backlog I am *slowly* creeping through while playing newer games as well. Lol takes awhile to go through my preferred games as they are JRPGs lol.
First time having to scrimp and save huh?
Anxiety no, I grew up lower class and game consoles and most games were exclusive to Christmas and birthday gifts. Even now I still prefer to wait until a game is on sale or I get a gift (like a gift card) to help cut down the costs. I can sometimes get a little sad if I know I will have to save up and wait, because I’m excited to play a game, but I don’t feel particularly anxious about it.
Never. Normally, if there’s something I really wanna play, I can always come back to it, or I can just not follow Nintendo if I want to be “spoiler-free”. But most of the time if a game releases and I don’t pick it up, I hardly ever think about it until it goes on sale or I’m browsing for stuff to begin with.
No, I just decide what I can and can’t buy.
no they’re not going anywhere, and nintendo surely doesn’t intend for every game they publish to be bought and consumed immediately. buy within your means. no rush.
I think just asking this question warrants an appointment with a therapist.
Not at all. I’ve not kept up to date with consoles at all. Always gotten them a few years after release.
I’m a patient gamer. I would say 1 out of every 10 games I buy is a day one game . I usually wait for discounts that are around 50% or more for most (non Nintendo ) games.
As for Nintendo games themselves I will get them when or if I want them . If I know there is a sale coming up and it’s been out awhile I wait and see . Nintendo loves to not ever put anything I want on sale though until I’ve already bought it lol
No. I’ve bought 2 games for my Switch 2. (DK and Pokémon Z-A). Both were bad. Both were sold. My switch just sits in the dock. There isn’t anything I want to play right now.
If you’re literally “losing sleep” over this you should talk to a therapist. I don’t mean to sound harsh, I’m just keeping it real.
I’m guessing you’ve never heard of r/patientgamers, but maybe check that out too. It’d be good for you
Games don’t go anywhere, I didn’t even get a PS4 until 2023 and I’m just now running out of exclusives on it to play. If you have to wait it’s no big deal.
I’m the type of gal to wait on a game for several years for a game to go on sale before buying it, the only reason I got my switch 2 on launch was that I saw the writing on the walls that it was gonna jump up in price soon.
Man, I’ve got enough things to have anxiety over. I don’t have the anxiety left to spare for this.
20 years later, and I still don’t have a Wii, ffs.
No, absolutely not. They’ll most likely get thrown on the backlog, anyway. Plus, as someone in the States with an anxiety disorder, there are FAR worse things for me to worry about than new games.
No, i did that multiple times, respectufully get a hobby
The Switch 2 is the first Nintendo console I chose to skip out on at release, and i have zero anxiety.
There are far more important things for me to keep up with.
Things to get anxious about if you can’t keep up: rent, bills
Nintendo isn’t one of those
Dude I’m just getting through Tears of the Kingdom now. I wouldn’t worry about it.
I only get concerned about physical releases that tend to be more niche or have shorter shelf lives. Like the Trails beyond the horizon game that just came out. It was immediately out of stock on a couple sites and not likely to be seen in my local stores.
I got into the habit of scooping things up sooner than later when I noticed some titles disappear from stores. This was during the 3DS era for me. I will say, though, that the evolution of eshops and the digital age has made it so access to all the games is readily available, at least for download. It’s something I have to remind myself of often, as feeling the need to buy/own everything I’ll eventually want to play is a tough habit to break.
I’ve recently declined to buy a couple switch 2 games at launch and sad news for my wallet is this is the first time in a while. Trying to have some patience, especially with first party Nintendo stuff. There’s a metric ton of stuff I own and haven’t played. And that’s what gives me the anxiety tbh. Cuz I feel like I have to play them but fear I’ll never have the time. And that makes my escapism another chore. And that’s not the best feeling.
(And to the comments that say you need a therapist if it gives you anxiety… way ahead of you lol)
Lmao, I’ve never kept up with games or consoles on release, for Nintendo or any other company.
What in the platinum spoon is this.
No, but I’m pretty selective with which games I buy and play. A game has to look really exceptional or be on a shortlist of IPs I’ve always enjoyed for me to buy it anywhere close to launch. It also helps that a lot of the recent output has been remasters of games I’ve already played.
I have anxiety whether I do or don’t buy Nintendo products.
This seems like a question for a therapist.
