Anyone else notice there are so many of these?

As if pokemon go players ever read…lol

Edit: I was taking a subtle dig at people not “reading” in-game news.

  2. IzzybearThebestdog

Might be a numbers game, people submit a ton of them wanting a stop near bye.

  3. Artrock80

Hah mine got rejected because they are on a residential property…

  4. Jaded-Commission-414

In my neighbourhood it’s all stolpersteine. Every single post card I send my friends is one of like 50 holocaust victims which is really weird having to pick a fitting sticker for is what I’ll say

  5. ADMotti

It’s the Ingress gazebo meme all over again

  6. WearNothingButASmile

Meme: playerss think Niantic handles pokestop submissions.

spoiler alert: its players that do these. aka Wayfarers, a more toxic bunch than min-maxers.

but its quite hilarious that they got bypassed in the process of making Max Spots showing how disposable they can be.

why? Min maxers have a code to follow and they will die on that hill they picked.

as for wayfarers? there is a clean cut criteria that theyre supposed to follow with these submissions but its still based on their SUBJECTIVE interpretation on what “passes”.

example: you could submit a church with the bare minimum to pass like “name of church” plus a brief but concise description however if you get a Wayfarer that prefers that the denomination of the church be added, your stuff is denied and youd have to appeal (and yes, have that appeal be reviewed also by a Wayfarer)

That’s interesting because I live near a little library.

In my local park, there’s a small wooden bridge, no longer than 10ft that covers a ditch. It’s nothing special at all. No fancy decorations or carvings. No memorial signs or anything. It has a pokestop for it. The bridge is no longer there.

I’ll take a mini library over the generic restaurant sign that gets approved because it’s under the apartment of a pogo user who doesn’t want to have to leave their couch.

My Little Free Library has been a Pokestop for several years. It was deleted last week.

  11. VioletFaust

Yes, and I love it! Nice to know where the LFLs are when you’re walking around.

  12. Heavy_Arm_7060

My favorite being rejected was still describing a metal apple statue was because someone else had already submitted it as ‘red shape art thing’ and somehow that got approved.

  13. LowContract4444

I love little free libraries. I always stop in the road when I see one and grab a book. I have books I plan to donate too, but they’re not in my car whenever I find these.

  14. piuoureigh

There are many eligible ones in my town that are not pokestops. I just figure that someone else will submit them, so it doesn’t get done.

I like little free libraries, little free art galleries, and trinket trade boxes. They add community into suburbia and are something that can be more easily added than murals or public works of art. Even looking beyond the game, it makes areas more enjoyable to live in imo.

Funny you say that. One of these popped up between my house and the freeway. I take it over every morning on my way to work.

  17. Royal_Aegislash1209

I want to make a little free library near my house, but no spot around me is eligible for one (at least one that wouldn’t count as being on private property 😭). To be fair, LFLs are the easiest thing to nominate as “beacons of knowledge” and are a legitimate meeting place. Plus, they’re just fun! There’s one in my neighborhood, but it’s an extra hour walk just to get within range to spin it…

  18. _sadskeleton

I am okay with these. They can increase pokestop density in underserved residential neighborhoods, keeping kids and other players in safe, car-light areas.

Niantic itself has started adding generic ‘Corner of X St and Y Ave’ for that same purpose.

  19. DlCKJINGLES6969

Haha the one I have next to my house is a free library like this 😂

  20. In my country (Brazil) it is all protestant churchs

  21. YesIUseReddit

For me it’s always polluted by maps of the campus

  22. IsThisKismet

On the corporate front, I’m still upset McDonalds dropped their sponsorship. I hate sending adverts, but at least it was something!

  23. mahoganyteakwood2

And I can’t get them to accept the mini book library across the street 🙄

  24. Darkdragoon324

Still better than the Starbucks and three McDonald’s stops within walking distance of me lol. All my PoGo friends must think I have horrid taste in food.

  25. Nabu_Mandela

I have a pokestop next to me that was a small playground. That playground is now a newly build house. 🙂

  26. spook96

Its like I’m surrounded by churches here, I WISH they would approve some little free libraries or whatever. The people receiving gifts from me must be like ‘Damn she’s really always at church’

  27. rohan62442

I reached level 35 this week. I returned to the game this month after a hiatus of 9 years.

I have one little library in my neighborhood that was installed this year. But after the horror stories I’ve read of accounts being banned for rejected nominations, I’m gonna skip that feature entirely. There’s enough pokéstops around.

  28. mencretdimulut

somehow ive seen this “Little Library” somewhere as a gift. Perhaps one of my US friends sent me these

  29. ayooshq

Probably depends on the area. The last city I was in, there were a lot of gazebos everywhere, and all of them were either pokestops or gyms.

  30. 86Alchemist

Thank God for these. Otherwise most of the areas I’m in would be a dead zone.
