Spiritomb has been treated as an extremely rare pokemon that was very difficult to find and get in its debut. Majority of players back then only saw Spiritomb for the first time through Cynthia in D/P. Spiritomb’s you can find in the wild have usually been in strange ways or specific locations. What trainers use Spiritomb? It’s been reserved for powerful trainers. Cynthia being the most iconic owner of a Spiritomb. The other trainers who own a Spiritomb are Karen(HG/SS), Fantina(Pokemon World Tournament), and Ryme(Sc/Vi). Seems Spiritomb is only used by powerful and experienced trainers because of how evil/feral it is and difficult to tame one. I think it’s pretty cool that Pokemon has done this for Spiritomb. Even in the anime Spiritomb was shown to only be owned by Cynthia and mentioned about how powerful and rare that Pokemon is. Her Spiritomb defeated 3 of Ash’s pokemon! Feels like Spiritomb would be an extremely difficult pokemon to handle which is why only powerful trainers seem to own one.
