How did security respond to this one?

It’s fucking pathetic. I love collecting pokemon cards, but this is absolutely pathetic.

And then people wonder why even box stores are starting to raise their price. It’s easier than dealing with this bullshit.
ceomentor
I blame The Pokemon Company they love the press of this. Instead of selling Direct-to-Consumer from them they force this on the fans.
Mr_Fossey
I would actively destroy my inventory in front of them.

I seriously do not understand why Ascended Heroes gets this kind of attention.
The set is mid af.

Yeah I’ve lost my interest in this hobby after finding it again. Not worth the hassle to possibly get trampled and hurt over it. I’ll just stay buying my single graded slabs. Need to have the box sets all behind a locked counter check out, with steel bars like a casino with multiple armed security guards and one purchase per person. Only way you can stop it. And places stop pre releasing pending order arrival dates and locations. Saw a post yesterday with people sitting in picnic chairs in the aisle of a store.

Middle age men developing such a violent mob of scalpers that parents had to hurry and shield their children from the storming…
Can we finally start shaming them and making them feel in danger whenever they hit the streets already please?

Breaking down a security gate seems like grounds to stop the sale. Why would they go through with this? All it does it teach that bad behavior and cutting corners gets you what you want
gmatic92
What a bunch of losers, and man-children.

It’s been years since I’ve seen cards in store because local card shops and other scalpers buy out their stock. There’s a local Facebook page where scalpers brag about showing up to every store in the area everyday just to insure that there’s no available stock for actual collectors. They even buy the garbage repack packs too.
Until they start selling boxes directly to me I won’t be buying cards ever again.

None of these people are here for the love of the hobby. Every single one is there to re-sell it and make a quick buck.
If Sports Direct can’t handle Pokemon product in such a way that promotes it in a reasonable way then they should not be allocated stock. It’s that simple. There are lots of independent TCG stores in the UK who would kill for the allocation and do a million times better at getting it in the hands of people who will appreciate it.

Been in Japan for 5 weeks and the way they do it is sadly the way the west needs to do it. Limits on packs not boxes. 5 packs for new sets, 10 packs for old and 2 packs for special sets. Crush the investor bros this way and if you’re super keen to open sets you can go each day. Kids get packs this way.

Honestly just awful. I’m just resigned to PC drops and that’s it, I’ll just buy the singles I want. This hobby feels like a chore at times.
This being a special set doesn’t help either, so few packs spread across so many different products and packed in junk.

There needs to be legislation to handle this. These cards are a form of children’s gambling. We need legislation to be similar to japans gambling laws where the odds for the “good cards” needs to increase. This will devalue the re sell market and end a lot of this nonsense. Children can’t even buy these cards anymore

If they can’t print more cards, they should adjust the pull rates. The chase cards being ridiculously hard to pull is a big factor in the frenzy and scalper interest.

Horrible look – only getting worse

Sucks to live in the UK as a shiny cardboard collector I guess

This will all stop when people stop buying from these losers, stop supporting this shit
Tyrschwartz
It’s giving crypto/NFT vibes at this point. All the real fans of the hobby have left, and these ding dongs just take turns selling these things back and forth to each other 🤷🏻🤦🏻♂️ so dumb.
Alasdair91
Pathetic losers. This is why I’ve left the hobby and game all together. Can’t buy anything anymore so what’s the point?

Imagine if they put that much effort into hygiene now
TrueSouldier
The best solution I’ve heard of is three fold. First you keep everything locked behind glass and/or the customer service desk, second you limit purchasing to a reasonable amount, third all sealed product gets the plastic wrap removed at time of purchase. Can’t re-sell that ETB if it isn’t factory sealed
