Kanto version exclusives

These aren't 100% of them since you can't get Arbok and Weezing in Yellow and etc. but these are my thoughts on a better selection for how to break up the version exclusives. I was thinking left was LeafGreen and right was Firered as left became more tanky and defensive while right became more offensive. This was on purpose and I think it would fit the game more.

I could add all the 5 in the bottom, but not getting Geodude in Mt. Moon is a bit of a big choice and so is tinkering with Pidgey or Rattata. Cloyster I dropped as it's one of the few ice types. Sandslash/Marowak was the only hard option I could go either way with.

I also didn't think taking away the bugs from either game were smart as it's such a weak typing anyway.

What do you guys think? Do you think it's silly to discuss or are they perfect as is?

Because of the Pokemon tower story element you can’t really make Marowak a version exclusive. Same for the Clefable line with all the NPCs talking about it at Mt. Moon.

Uh, sorry, but no. Multiple of your suggestions are not balanced, shared types aren’t enough. The “opposites” you suggested have vastly different strength and the evolution methods aren’t close. Never mind that you tried putting a three-stage against a two-stage. The real pairings are much more fitting in my opinion, the Pokémon are closer and less lop-sided.

I would’ve made them like this:
    – Butterfree/Beedrill (Both are Viridian Forest Bug type pokémon)
    – Arbok/Weezing (Team Rocket reference)
    – Golem/Machamp (Both are found in caves and are a trade evolution)
    – Seaking/Dewgong (Both level up at level 33-34)
    – Vileplume/Victreebel (Both are 3 stage & Leaf Stone evolutions)
    – Arcanine/Ninetails (Both are 2 stage & Fire Stone evolutions)
    – Starmie/Cloyster (Both are 2 stage & Water Stone evolutions)
    – Kangaskhan/Tauros (Both are Normal types found in the Safari Zone)

Seaking/Dewgong might be the only one who isn’t 50/50 but both are late game. One version can get Goldeen/Seaking with the Good Rod in other locations or in Fuchsia itself, while the other version can Surf to the Seafoam Islands and get Seel/Dewgong in there.
