Just recently came back into the hobby, started viewing YouTube videos on it and they decided to revive my old childhood collection. I started browsing prices in stores in my area and they were all way too much money than what I was expecting to spend.
Because of this, I turned to second hand market bulk, mainly vintage cause that’s nostalgic for me. I live in Portugal and what you need to understand is that the market here is not very big, there are a lot of fake cards (most of my childhood collection was fake cause that’s what we could get our hands on) and the Portuguese reseller is very famous for their “Midas touch” so everything is very expensive even if it’s not worth much and quite hard to find…
So context given, I saw some vintage bulk for sale at 90€ and decided to post on Reddit to see if it was a big deal or if I was getting scammed. Turns out it was maybe worth 1/10th of that and a kind stranger (shoutout to u/Ok-Description-213) reached out to me, we talked about what I wanted to collect and I explained it to him.
He told me he would be willing to sell some of his bulk for cheap through eBay, and although it was in German, I am interested mainly in the art of the cards so language it was no big deal. We go ahead with the sell and I was expecting (by the pictures of the ad) a couple cards to start of my collection.
A couple weeks go by and it arrived a large box to my house. I quickly understood that these were my cards and when I opened I was simply amazed. This total random stranger went above and beyond and had sent me WAY more cards than what I had hoped for and I was completely blown away. It contained German, English and even Japanese cards (and my first ever slab!!!!).
I decided that I’m building a Pokédex in a binder and most of these cards are going in it for sure!!!
I don’t have words to describe what this means to me, just wanted to share my appreciation with him and remember everyone how nice this community is and what this hobby it’s all about.
Next month I’m going to my first ever card show, and I’ll try my best to repay this kindness of him to others there!!!
Again, u/Ok-Description-213 thank you so much for this, I’m in love with these cards and had a blast learning (and laughing) about the German names of some of my favourite pokemon!
