Look before you say anything, let me explain. I personally don't have any problem against bipedal and humanoid designs for pokemon. Heck, that created some of my favorite pokemon, like greninja and blaziken. But, it's a bit boring. Look, for the past few generations – most starters have been looking more human/furry like. Like look at the bloody Gen 8 starters and the Gen 9. Most of their final evolutions look more like human animal hybrids/furry like (again, nothing against it). But personally – I always preferred when the starters look more animalistic. Like skeledirge and torterra. Heck emboars fine, he's more animal than human like. The Gen 10 starters have the potential to become beasts. Especially pombon. Pokemon would be stupid to make their first ever dog starter a bipedal furry like creature. Like most people have said, they could all evolve into mythical creatures from southeast Asia. Like pombon evolving into a barong like creature, Gecqua evolving into a Naga and Browt becoming a Garuda. This would be awesome and the first, if the starters were based on MYTHICAL creatures. (Gen 4 wouldn't fully count since torterra is based on the world turtle – a mythical creature while Infernape and Empoleon are based on mythology beings not creatures)
