So I did not grow up on Pokémon, tho I know of it well, and am only now getting into it. I follow TBSkyen on YouTube who does really good critiques of character designs, such as Pokemon, LoL, and more. The more Pokémon critiques I’ve seen, the more interested I’ve become in the franchise.
I understand OG fans do NOT want Pombon to be anthropomorphized, and this design came to me very suddenly. The thought here is that it very much retains its derpy doggie-ness, it just gets way bigger and rounder. Then I thought what could be made fantastical about it, and so its hair puff grows longer, almost like a lit fuse. And it has a bit of pink, cuz I think it would be nice if it became the first Fire Fairy type. Also, while I don’t know what its middle evolution would be, I think it would be called Boffle and have a little more pink in it.
Side note, it is sitting on its hind legs, not standing up.
