Allowing us to exchange our regular candies for Rare Candy would encourage people to catch more common Pokémon, participate in more Community Days and other events and provide us with a resource to use on our more rare Pokémon.
This would increase the number of people with powered up legendary Pokémon in raids, number of powered up Max Pokémon in max battles, and the number of people able to use Adventure Effects.
This could also give rural players the ability to evolve and power up their limited event Pokémon, like Silicobra.
There are a ton of ways in which allowing this exchange could actually increase player engagement with the game.
Lore-wise, Professor Willow uses the candies to care for the Pokémon we transfer to him, making the Rare Candy a small token of thanks since he doesn't need them as much.
I'd like to know if anyone else has had a thought like this rattling around in their heads for a bit. Hopefully Niantic/Scopely could give it some consideration.

I feel like this would be insanely broken and too convenient for Scopely to introduce, maybe through a $15 go pass they’d consider it
This would make the game too easy. Easy games are not fun games.
4/20 isn’t until tomorrow bro slow down
Won’t ever happen. Main way you get rare candy is raids, no way they will make an easier way.
I always though it could be a good deal to turn 1000 candies from 5 different Pokémon into maybe 3-5 rare candies, that way you could still use candies from rattatas, sunkern, etc. And would be motivated to catch them and thus play more.
They do not want to make things easier for us
That’s a great idea. More Pikachu costumes incoming instead.
Hahahaha what???? This would be such a bad move. You just go hard on Lechonk Community Day and now can level 50 all your top, meta pokes 😂😂😂
Yeah this doesn’t feel like a good idea. I could just immediately get any new release’s evos by tossing my thousands of pidgey candy into the machine.
What I *would* like is to be able to turn candy XLs into regular candy. There are times when the pokemon simply isn’t high of a level enough to need XLs but wants evolving.
You can technically do this if you already know what Pokemon you want to use it on. And you should already have an idea. Mine would be mythicals or legendary Pokemon we only got one of.
I’d have over 2k candy from Eevee alone. Way too busted.
that would defeat the purpose of having unique candies for every poke
