The Pokémon games have always tied progress to effort, so the step counter on a smartwatch felt like a natural fit. Your Pokémon evolves as you hit step milestones through the day and resets at midnight — so every day is a new run. This is only for the Pebble Smartwatch.
Some things I added that felt very on-brand:
- Pokémon sleeps from 11 PM – 6 AM, active during the day
- Biome backgrounds matching each Pokémon's type — Charmander gets a lava field, Squirtle gets water, etc.
- As you walk you can earn berries for an EXP boost
- The Battery indicator is disguised as an HP Bar
- Eevee has a "random daily evolution" mode if you want the surprise
- Day/night sky cycle that changes the look throughout the day
- 16 Pokémon across several generations (Kanto starters, Johto starters, Riolu, Gastly, Froakie, Gible, Dratini, and more)
