Peridot is still a thing? Spent max a month with it getting to grips with what it had to offer and building up a dot for breeding. Became quickly apparent what the game would want from me for what little it was offering.
What honestly surprises me is that I'm still playing Pikmin Bloom. Another game that has pretty much nothing going on, but set it to planting flowers in the background while I walk around catching Pokemon and can pretty much forget about it most of the time. XD But, yeah, there really isn't anything going on with that game. Most of the "fun" is the rare instance I go to a new place, open it up to see what types might be available in the area.
Who is really surprised that Niantic Spatial, NOT Niantic/Scopely shut some bs game down? They aren’t a gaming company any more, they’re an AI/AI mapping company now. There is a reason Scopely didn’t purchase the titles Niantic Spatial retained…..
I try not to think about how much I’ve spent, not even on this game alone because I play a couple other mobile games (Starwars GoH) I try to look at it as paying for the experience or traveling, enjoying life, making memories, and enjoying the free time I have when I play PoGo

People have been having this same conversation since the 90s. I had this conversation about Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast in 2000.
There are single player games. There are multiplayer games that let you host your own servers. That’s what you need to play if you’re so concerned about live service games shutting down. Just because you put some quarters into an arcade cabinet doesn’t mean you have a say whether the person who owns that machine takes it away or not.
No wonder why main citys have better spawn and more stops, they needed to get Those citys scanned fast😂
I didn't spend money besides whatever I spent from Google Rewards, just had fun playing casually and walking. Nothing in life is permanent, I'll have good memories of the game whenever this game eventually ends.
I think you sort of nailed it with why they dont fix the game. Even in the state the game is in, they still make tons of bank. why spend money to fix it. th eROI will be negative for them, hence they leave it as is.
If Pokemon GO shuts down, it will be impossible to evolve Meltan if they don't make it evole in the main series games.

To be fair the hours I have spent in pogo if shutdown I have get alot of value per hour money spent.
They even shutdown Harry Potter… One of the biggest IP. I am suppriced they have not shutdown Ingress yet.

I totally looked for those AR glasses, and literally can't find where to buy them. A google search says you can find them on a few websites, but they're nowhere to be found! Guess they partnered with the wrong brand of wearable tech.
Squad Busters is shutdown by Supercell, NFS is shutdown by EA, and many more. Its normal and acceptable. If there is not much income, they need to shut it down. They can shift their resources, like Developers, to another game they have which has a lot more success en make it even better. Its business and demand of majority of players. Pokemon GO, and Clash of Clans are the games that will remain for at least another 10 years. We do need to worry at all.
when peridot released i tried it too. the gameplay loop was to spend 5 bucks on a nest to hatch a creature then raise it and then breed it with another creature and spend another 5 bucks to hatch the next one. so yes, it was a money grab
Im level 77 been playing since 2020. Ive spend just under 300 dollars total. A lot of that was storage right up front. Ive purchased a few passes here and there but thats it. The game is free. Of youre not running a youtube channel you dont need to spend money to have all the best shit. Only things You camt free to play is shiny mythicals.
I have friends that still play Ingress and Pikimin. I play Monster Hunter bc it's more engaging that Pokémon Go.
If they shut down Pokémon go that will be the start of the death of all parties involved.
Pokemon Go 2 like a destiny 2 so you would have to catch them all again would be crazy in like 5 years but I can see it happening
