So this was added to the Chicago GoFest event gameplay page. Seems like they may have some more surprises left as it mentions a multi-thousand trainer raid. It also appears on the Tokyo and Copenhagen pages as well but is worded slightly different on each.
As far as I've seen, the Mega Mewtwo raids are capped at 1,000 trainers each.
