Hi everyone,
I’m a university student in Spain, and I’m currently working on my thesis about Pokémon fandom.
I’ve loved Pokémon since I was a child. At first, it was simply a world I admired and dreamed about. As I grew older, Pokémon gradually became more than just something I watched or played — it became part of my sense of identity. Through Pokémon, I also met many friends who shared the same passion.
At the same time, Pokémon even shaped the way I imagine travel. For example, I’ve often thought about going to Japan one day to visit places like Pokémon Center and other Pokémon-related attractions. When I saw that Universal Studios Japan was planning a Pokémon area, it made me think even more seriously about something:
Are there other people in the world who also feel a strong sense of belonging because of this IP, and who would be willing to join Pokémon offline events, or even travel long distances for Pokémon-related experiences, even if they cannot always do it right away?
That question became the starting point of my research.
So I created a short survey to explore whether this idea is actually true for other fans as well. The survey is completely anonymous and takes about 3–5 minutes to complete.
If you have time, I would really appreciate your help:
