  1. “I would like to rename my pokémon to its original, canonical name.”

“Sounds good to me. What’s the name?”

    “Butterfree.”

    “Absolutely not.”

  2. Benjamin_Grimm

I was really annoyed that I couldn’t name my Butterfree “Butthead.”

I feel like a simple, no-brainer solution to this would be to:
    1. Whitelist the names of all Pokemon in all supported languages, as long as the nickname is literally just a Pokemon name & whitespace
    2. Add a reset nickname button to the edit screen

  5. Gewaldro15

I don’t know if that was previously possible:
I give my friends nicknames where they are from. Trying to add West Virginia was also innapropriate when I tried a day ago…

For why? They really don’t have anything better to do.

I wonder if they are preparing for having pokemon nicknames visible in the remote trade list?

Butterfree has been a banned name for years now, I have one from like 2018 I tried to rename to .Butterfree but it wouldn’t let me so I changed it to .Asserfree and it worked. I believe jigglypuff is old as well, but I’m not sure about the others.
