Pokemon

Generation X, Winds & Waves will have the longest development time between new mainline Pokemon games. Is there any other company out there as consistent at their releases?

I have a lot of issues with how Gamefreak delivers their games, the graphics, the performance and so on. The lack of voice acting, the ability to skip tutorials, difficulty settings.

But god damn are they consistent.

If the elders scrolls series would be following a similar release schedule we might be getting The elder scrolls XI in a year.

And in comparison, I way prefer the Pokemon approach, consistent releases, not huge changes.

Definitely not Rockstar with their GTA titles.

I take a dump every day. Thats consistent!
    Applaud me aswell?

Gamefreak stoped giving a shit a long time ago. They need new blood. I’d rather have half the amount of games to increase the quality, cause its been over a decade since pokemon was GREAT. Save for maybe Legend Arceus

Well Ubisoft seems to be able to make a new assassin’s creed roughly every fifteen minutes…

Depends on what you consider consistent. Pokemon is definitely most consistent when it comes to the structure of titles and tightening the formula as it goes on. As for releases yes, the schedule is very consistent, supposedly a bunch of Japanese kids were asked if they prefered Final fantasy or dragon quest and most of the kids didnt know either franchise and were more familiar with pokemon because of the releases.

Now as for quality….its definitely getting questionable but this is a small dev that originally only did handheld hardware. Despite owning a very profitable franchise they are not some grand AAA dev. They just got lucky and happen to have some good marketing teams along with art design. They still think its the game boy era and its shows. Hopefully WIWA and beast of reincarnation teach them more about game dev down the road.

Now here’s a factor of consistency that not enough talk about and its the sheer utter fact that they take very good care of the franchise. And what i mean by this is never stopping its marketing, image, and releases. You remember pokemon over any of its competitors because it never left and just kept sticking around. Even when the initial hype died down, they never stopped. Very few in pokemon’s level can do that. You may not like the later titles, and i know thats a mixed factor for many, but you can’t deny that it will always be there no matter what. Even when pokemon stops being the most profitable franchise, itll still be there.
