edit: fixed by phone restart. lesson learned – do troubleshooting step 0 (turn on/off again) before trying more complex solutions 🙂
My main phone (which hotspots to a second device) has been unable to interact with gym raids, dynamax battles, or grunts using wifi or cellular for approximately 24 hours. I am able to enter the battle, but I cannot tap or exit and have to force quit the app. The app's behavior is similar to what was seen in Nov 2024 post1, post2, but my issue also affecting the phone when it is not hotspotting and on wifi.
The manual DNS switch solution that worked then is not working now. Interestingly the hotspotting phone cannot battle, but the hotspotted phone is not having any issues raiding.
Things I've tried already:

battling on wifi (same error)

switching DNS on wifi on manual 1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1, 4.4.4.4, 8.8.8.8 on main phone

switching DNS on cellular to manual 1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1, 4.4.4.4, 8.8.8.8 on hotspotted phone

switching DNS back to automatic on both phones

reinstalling
-
refresh game data
-
airplane mode on/off
