Wonder what happened to that digital release? It was originally reported as May 5th, then May 19th. Universal never said anything officially though.
Edit
Nvm guess it’s confirmed for the 19th now.

I’ve been doing free PR for Nintendo since the NES days. Now that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has banked nearly a billion dollars, I think it’s only fair I get a cut of that money.
GoldenGirlsFan213
I think they will drag it over the billion in June

Safe to say the 3rd movie is coming at this point, if the post credits scene of this one didn’t guarantee that already.

Noice – wish McDonald’s kept their happy meal tie-in for longer but oh well

Miyamoto seems surprised that Galaxy isn’t doing as well as the first movie. i feel like they need to pause and reevaluate their strategy with mario movies, otherwise the third movie might continue to decline in sales.
I don’t know what they can do to hit the numbers of the first movie again, but it feels unlikely, especially if they make another movie along the same lines for 2028.

It really feels like this movie “came and went”; nowhere near the same level of fanfare as the first one
Hopefully they come back correct with the 3rd movie

I absolutely loved it. Saw it twice! Also collected all the McDs toys, and got some of the Old Spice and Lush products. Was a great month to be a Mario fan

Dunno why “critics” were paid to hate this movie with guts, it was just a splendid kids movie like any other.

Literally how?

Oh god, that’s just going to encourage more milquetoast commercial-movies.

I’m curious if this’ll hit the billion milestone. The first one did so easily, and I expected this one to as well but clearly audiences don’t like it quite as much.

Did this release in Japan yet? I know it didn’t release there at the same time as the rest of the world.

The movie was so bad man

The first one was better, but galaxy was still pretty fun.

Low-IQ slop still has a pretty large audience, it would seem 🙄
Jonesdeclectice
Although I enjoyed the reference littered through the movie, this was a really bad film.
Edit: Illumination Entertainment says it all

I never imagined it would reach such a staggering amount of millions.

DK spin off, third Mario movie, and then Fox spin off? Mario avengers movie is going to hit so mf hard. All we need is the live action Zelda to somehow teleport into an animated world and we are golden.

Great, now please release the next 3D Mario. It‘s been 9 years, while you released 2 movies in only 3 years.

If they ever make a movie where something happens in it the world is going to implode
OoTgoated
Glad it’s doing well. Loved this movie and definitely want more.

Am I alone in thinking the movie wasn’t that good? Weak story and far too fast-paced.
GenTenStation
I’ll be getting it as soon as the 4K Blu-ray comes out.
