Painted the original TOMY Bulbasaur figure. Copyright laws to sell prints?

I've been collecting the original TOMY/Hasbro 90s figures and finally got ahold of my favorite little guy. I'm an artist and thought he'd be fun to paint. Now that he's almost done, I was wondering if I'll get hit with the copyright law of shame if I tried to sell prints of it? The point isn't necessarily Bulbasaur itself, but it's a recapture of the toy and the nostalgia I had with these as my childhood favorites. I'm trying to make it look toy-like intentionally, with the mold lines and paint scuffs. I might even make a series of them. Will it pass the copyright check if it's transformative, taking reference from the toy and framed as nostalgia? How can I change it if not? Does background make a difference? I'm trying to build my own business from my art in the long-run.
