I have spent the last few years keeping track of Nintendo's IP, corporate material, and strategies to successfully predict the last few "dead" series Nintendo has "revived" in advance. Now that Star Fox is back, I finally put that information together to share.
Nintendo has been very upfront with their strategies in bolstering IP ever since Pikmin 4 released. They have also been not-so-subtle about which series they think has a higher value than others through how they market their series. So, using that information, I have been able to guess ahead of time which series is currently getting the "Pikmin treatment" AKA a potential popularity boost. This is also how we've landed on our current "BIG 5" (represented in Nintendo stores, Nintendo Today, etc), so I'm curious if anyone else has caught on to anything like this that I have missed, which series you think will be next to get the "Pikmin treatment", and if Star Fox will be the BIG 6th. Additionally, the Star Fox box art renders very much look like the other corporate Nintendo Renders, so I wouldn't be surprised if these new Star Fox renders are actually the new default designs (as opposed to a one-off like previous designs) and we start seeing Fox's face on gift cards.
