Excuse me, what?

A good change that helps me with my mega hundos I’ve been grinding out each day for the last year!
Davo_
that amount isn’t too egregious, tbh. though I imagine it varies by the mega.
ObviouslyLulu
Am I crazy or does it no longer tell you how many times you need to mega evolve to level up when the pokemon is currently mega evolved? It tells me the amount of times needed on pokemon not currently mega like in this image but I don’t see the amount of times needed to level up my currently mega evolved pokemon anywhere
Next-Use6943
Way too expensive imo
GentleGiantAu
Not seeing this live on my android or my iPhone.
Ph3rny
if I’m reading it correctly that’s the usual remega cost (40) * 20 times (what’s remaining) so it’s short changing you the free one?
so I guess the strategy to use this would be to use the free mega and then presumably it would be 760 to get the remaining 19 levels?
Aetheldrake
It’s not live world wide so not really live yet.

If I had 30 days to max mega a Pokémon for a specific event, what strategy would be more efficient?
pogo-n-watches
The requirement seems to 2x the max number needed by doing it the old way.
My Lopunny needs 4 more mega evolves to reach Mega2. At 40 energy each that would be 160 and its giving me 320.
For Mega3 doing it manually would be 40×4 + 23×20 = 620. It’s offering to do it instantly for 1240.

YES! Finally lol

Would be nice if this was actually live!!!!
AuroraSkye620
My sitting on 7k mega ray energy 😂
Edit: 1520 to go from lvl 2 to 3 btw

This so people who are going to do 400 raids in global are able to Mega3/4 Mewtwo instantly and keep gaining energy.
Snow_Set_02
This works for Groudon and Kyogre too. Really hard to argue they’re primal reversion isnt a mega evolution.

The question is, will level 4 come for all the megas, or stay just the super megas? I don’t wanna waste precious mega energy
darunia484
Th energy isnt reduced if youre close? Seems dumb.
cfranzy
does anyone know if this will count towards total mega evo badge?
PikaGaijin
To verify the other suppositions about the cost, I have a dragonite which (was) 17 evo’s away from level 3; and the cost was 1360. Sacrificed 3 mega energy to evolve early, and the cost went down to 1280 (or, 16 daily evo’s away, starting tomorrow). And, 6280 to go to super max level.
16 daily evos would only be (16*30=) 480 energy though. So, the 2x calculation seems to fail here. Or, there’s a bug with the super max level mons.

Megas really weren’t anything I was doing much with (except raiding 1-2 for energy) before Kalos tour, when the number of times to get to Max was really compressed.
I got into the habit of mega evolving every pokemon every day and quickly had most my Megas at Max level, except Glalie (1 more evo).
I always felt like the mega boost was not worth it, since I was always raiding in a raid train.
That made it easy to ignore the mega feature until Kalos tour.
Now with the chance to instant unlock and, at Go Fest mega raid a Pokemon and catch it at max level – maybe Megas will be a more fun and less tedious part of the game, with real benefits – especially in smaller raid parties

What am I missing here isn’t it free to mega evolve them if you wait a few days each time?
moseriv5
I just maxed out both of my shiny lucarios but now I have to do double the work for both of my shiny GMAX zards….
ConnectionVegetable2
Best update ever thank god saves me so much time
NaveSutlef
Doesn’t seem worth it imo. I’m fine with doing it for free every few days.
I don’t get it. Isn’t it cheaper to wait a few days rather than spend all that mega energy in one sitting?
scission1986
My UI looks the same still, and no new updates in store
nintendo101
Not live tor everyone!! I want this and don’t have it!!
VincentLawless
Had 6000 lucario energy sitting around. Max leveled my 98 shiny lucky with force palm and hundo with bullet punch. Worth.
noveltfjord
Lol my months of grinding
TheDogWilliams
I like the update I have an abundance of mega energy but the memory of goldfish so I forgot to do the mega evolved etc. I like the short cut option even if it’s a bit more expensive.
iceman2g
I don’t know if this is a hot take, but I like this feature. For Pokémon where I don’t have much mega energy, I carry on grinding out the free mega progress. But for the Pokémon where I have a butt load of excess mega energy, I can skip the grind.
I already had a ‘Mega Fast Track’ tag where I would pay extra energy to mega evolve ahead of the cooldown, but that would still take almost a month. In my view, it’s much better to have multiple megas that you can evolve for free in rotation (during events, for example, where you want specific typings to be permanently boosted) than just one that you pay energy for every time you want to extend it. I don’t need 4000 Lucario mega energy, I’d rather have 400 energy and six max-mega level Lucarios.
Stupoopy
This is not worth it if you have time to slowly level up. If you’re coming up on an event and want to skip the wait to have a mega 3+ available AND you have the energy to spare, it is a fantastic option to have. Not many people are willing to mega a pokemon daily for a month. It’s a more expensive way of getting the benefit.
