Groudon is returning to 5-star raids in Pokémon GO, and if you’re hunting for a Hundo Groudon or Shiny Groudon, you do not want to miss this raid rotation! Groudon will be available in five-star raids from August 12, 2026 until August 18, 2026, giving Trainers another chance to catch one of Pokémon GO’s most powerful Legendary Pokémon.

In this video, we cover everything you need to know before you start raiding Groudon, including the Hundo CP, Weather Boost CP, Groudon’s weaknesses, and the best counters you should be using. The regular Hundo Groudon CP is 2351, while a Weather Boosted Hundo Groudon will have a CP of 2939 when boosted by Sunny weather. If you are checking every Groudon you catch, make sure you remember these numbers because you absolutely do not want to accidentally transfer or overlook a perfect 4-star Groudon.

Groudon is a Ground-type Legendary Pokémon, meaning it is weak to Grass, Ice and Water-type attacks. Some of the strongest options to bring into Groudon raids include Primal Kyogre, White Kyurem and Mega Sceptile. Building a strong team around these counters can help you defeat Groudon more efficiently and give you more opportunities to encounter the perfect IV version.

Primal Kyogre is an especially powerful choice thanks to its incredible Water-type damage, while White Kyurem provides strong Ice-type attacks against Groudon. Mega Sceptile is another excellent option if you want to take advantage of Groudon’s Grass-type weakness. Make sure your raid party is prepared before Groudon returns so you are not scrambling to build a team at the last minute.

There is also a Raid Hour featuring Groudon on August 12 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM local time, making this an excellent opportunity to get a large number of Groudon encounters in a short period of time. If you are serious about hunting the Hundo, Shiny, Candy XL or simply want to power up a strong Groudon for your Pokémon GO collection, this is a great window to raid.

And of course, Shiny Groudon is available from raids, so every encounter could potentially be the one you have been waiting for. Whether you are hunting a Hundo Groudon, Shiny Groudon, high-IV Groudon or simply looking to stock up on Groudon Candy and Candy XL, make sure you take advantage of this raid rotation before it ends.

Groudon is also an important Pokémon to have in Pokémon GO because of its usefulness in both PvE and PvP. A strong Groudon can be a valuable addition to your Legendary Pokémon collection, so checking your IVs and keeping your best catches is important. If you encounter a Groudon with 2351 CP in normal conditions or 2939 CP under Sunny weather, pay close attention because you could have the perfect Groudon!

Groudon 5-star raids run from August 12 through August 18, 2026, so you have a limited amount of time to hunt for your perfect catch. Don’t wait until the final day and then realize you missed your chance at the Hundo.
