On Wednesday, there was a massive update in Pokemon GO. This update brought sweeping changes to both PvP and Raid content in Pokemon GO. I will cover the full extent of all of these changes in future videos, but at this moment I want to focus on the Timeless Cup meta. The Timeless Cup is the current, ranked PvP format in Pokemon GO and the Timeless Cup is happening now. In order to help participating trainers out, I decided to cover its impact first.
Overall, the base meta is still the same but we have some big losers and new players. On the loser side of the force, we have Hydro Pump and Return users getting nerfed. In fact, Return users have been nerfed out of existence! As for the winners, Kingdra has a new move called Octazooka which is a much needed low energy cost charge move that also has a 50% chance to ruin your opponent’s attack stat. Drapion got Fell Stinger, making it the most threatening neutral damage in the Cup, and by extension a very safe lead and safe switch. We also have Mud Slap Gastrodon to contend with as well, smacking down any Poison-types hope at survival.
