Genesect has invaded Pokemon GO. Along with the Genesect special research event, it is assumed Genesect will soon be coming to the EX Raid Pool. This has trainers asking, just how good is Genesect? In this video, I cover Genesect in both raid and trainer battle metas. Overall, for raids Genesect is a pretty solid Bug-type attacker, which unfortunately lives in the shadow of Shadow Bug-type Pokemon such as Pinsir and Scyther. In PvP, Genesect has nearly the same stat spread as Scizor and fails to out-do it at every turn.
Things definitely look a little down for Genesect, but I do expect Genesect to rise up in the future should it receive its signature move Techno Blast. Techno Blast Genesect is also suggested in the game master, as it contains data on Genesect Burn, Chill, Douse, and Shock which parallel the held items required to change Techno Blast’s attacking type. Scizor is already good in Ultra League, but imagine as Scizor with an all powerful Ice or Fire-type Charge Move? Pretty scary.
