Here’s a sync pair that I’ve totally forgotten about, but one that might still be relevant in the metagame. Obtaining a shiny Squirtle had me looking through my water options and more often then not, I look past Kris and Feraligatr. Her grid is not spectacular, it doesn’t add much options for her, just enhancing what she is already doing. And the biggest weakness in her grid in my opinion is that it doesn’t fully remedy her aim when she’s throwing out Mega Kicks. If Feraligatr is a new sync pair being released today, i’m pretty confident she would have over 320 Atk stat, Piercing Gaze, and some sort of Mega Kick damage multiplier on her grid. But as it is right now, she’s just the victim of being one of the OGs when DeNA was still figuring out how to balance things.
Having said that, if you can look past her weaknesses, Feraligatr is still a unit that is dishing out sync move level damages on every turn. So I provided her with critical and rain support. On her grid I took Haymaker and everything I can to strengthen Mega Kick. Her goal is just to ram the opponent till they pass out. Squirtle’s Racing Rain and the speed boosts from Feral and Samurott pretty much kept gauges at a healthy level. There’s just alot of praying involved that Mega Kick doesn’t miss. 85% accuracy is still not stellar but it’s workable.
Will she get stronger in the future? Maybe at some point if DeNA ever releases 4/5 grid? Maybe. Let’s wait.
